Idli is one of the popular breakfast dish in India. This is cooked with mixture of rice and lentil paste. Idli is prepared by steaming process. It can be served with different kinds of accompaniments / chutney. I prepared this idli with little twist by adding grated carrot in it.
Recipe Type: Breakfast
Basmati Rice: 1 cup
Urad dal or split skinned black lentil: 1/2 cup
Carrot: Half cup grated
Flattened rice / Poha: 1/2 cup
Fenugreek seeds: 1/2 tsp
Water: As required
Salt: To taste
Oil: To grease the idli moulds.
1. Wash and soak rice and flattened rice/ Poha with water for 5-6 hours.
2. Wash and soak split skinned black lentil/ Urad dal and fenugreek seeds with water for 5-6 hours.
3. Drain the lentil and fenugreek seeds and reserve the water. Add little water and grind it into smooth paste.
